The finalists of the Copa América Fútbol Playa 2023 have been found. Brazil beat Paraguay 7-4 and Argentina won 2-0 against Colombia in the semi-finals played in Rosario, Argentina. These results qualify both teams to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup United Arab Emirates 2023 in Dubai.
In their semi-final match, Brazil defeated Paraguay 7-4, earning a place in the final of the tournament and the opportunity to become champions for the third time. This will be their fourth final appearance, making them the only team to have reached every final in the history of the tournament. The Brazilian side found the back of the net through the efforts of Brendo, Igor, Benjinha (twice), Zé Lucas, and Jordan, who also bagged a brace. Benitez and Martinez each contributed a brace to the Albirroja’s tally. Paraguay, the reigning champions, will miss the final for the first time and will compete against Colombia for third place that qualifies to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup United Arab Emirates 2023.
Meanwhile, Argentina made history by qualifying for their first ever final of a Copa América Fútbol Playa, beating Colombia 2-0 in the semi-finals. Goals from Emiliano Holmedilla and Lucas Ponzetti in the final period secured their place in the final against Brazil, and the chance to win the title on home soil. Colombia will face Paraguay in the third place play-off.
In other matches, Peru secured seventh place by defeating Bolivia 6-3, with two goals from Acuña and Alcántara, and one each from Millares and Delgado. Chávez, Zárate, and Alpiri scored for Bolivia.
Ecuador defeated Venezuela 2-1 to claim ninth place in the overall standings, with goals from Cedeño and Dender. Garcia scored for Venezuela.
