Sailor Moon Announces a Magical Manga Bundle With Qposket Figure

As announced by publisher Kondansha USA on Twitter, fans of the magical girl series will be able to take home a copy of Volume 1 of the Sailor Moon Naoko Takeuchi Collection, which will come with a special Qposket Sailor Moon figurine. The figure, which depicts Princess Serenity in her sailor scout gear, will only be available through the exclusive bundle and will not be sold separately. Hitting the shelves in January 2023, the bundle retails at $39.99 with a limited quantity.

The Sailor Moon Naoko Takeuchi Collection, aptly named after its mangaka, is a new edition of the Sailor Moon manga. It provides fans access to the updated translation and high page count of the Sailor Moon Eternal Edition version of the graphic novels at a much more affordable price. At the time of writing, four volumes of the Sailor Moon Naoko Takeuchi Collection are available, with Volume 5 set to be released later this month.

Sailor Moon, a Cosmic Manga Icon

Created by Naoko Takeuchi, Sailor Moon follows the adventures of 14-year-old schoolgirl Usagi Tsukino, whose life is forever changed when she encounters a talking black cat, Luna, who bestows on her a magical brooch. Usagi gains the ability to turn into Sailor Moon, a guardian destined to protect the world from those who seek to destroy it. Tasked with the mission to locate a mystic relic called the Legendary Silver Crystal, Usagi assembles a team of fellow Sailor Guardians, all named after planets in the solar system. Along with the mysterious Tuxedo Mask who helps them on occasion, the Sailor Guardians set out on a magical journey across time and space.

With sales of over 35 million copies worldwide, Sailor Moon has remained one of the bestselling shojo manga series of all time since its serialization began in 1991. The manga has received several anime adaptations, companion novels, stage musicals and live-action remakes and has generated $13 billion in worldwide merchandise sales. Following the anime adaptation that aired in the 1990s, Sailor Moon Crystal premiered in 2014 to provide a more faithful retelling of the events of its source manga. Summer 2023 will see the release of theatrical film project Sailor Moon Cosmos in Japan, which will be split in two parts to bring the “Stars” arc of the manga to the big screen.

Pre-orders for the Sailor Moon Naoko Takeuchi Collection manga bundle is noted to be coming soon. Sailor Moon Crystal is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
