The first Ukrainian pilots may complete training on F-16 fighters in the United States by the end of this year.
This was announced by the Director of the US National Guard Air Force, Michael Law, who was quoted by the AP agency.
They are now taking an English language proficiency test, must arrive at Morris Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, by October, and can then complete their training within three months. That is, they must cope by the end of the year.
However, after this, Ukrainians will still need to return to Europe and undergo additional training with NATO there. Michael Law couldn’t estimate how long it would take.
For pilots with no previous experience flying fighter jets, training will take nine months.
